Those who are saying that this is one of the "finest brew pubs in the country" either work for the Liberty St. Brewing Co., or need to travel more! As this brewery is close to my home, I feel qualified in saying after much research, that while Dragonslayer is a good brew, it is by no means adventurous! Liberty St. is not where close to the standards raised by brewpubs such as McMenamins in Oregon. The beer is adequate, the menu tries to make a statement and fails. The takehome beer is grossly overpriced, and hard to find anywhere in Akron but their pub. Travel some! See what other around the country are doing! Others have created a truly excellent product that does not scare away those new to the microbrew experience. Liberty St. is a good attempt at microbrewing in the midwest, where the goal is to get people away from their canned Bud Light. But they don't quite make it for those of us who have truly traveled and like brewpubs simply to enjoy beer and meet others who do as well. What a fabulous place! We've enjoyed it every time we've gone. (Date added: 10/23/97) DRAGONSLAYER IS AN EXCELLENT PALE ALE. EXTREMELY FLAVORFUL NON-FILLING BEER. CAJUN-SLANTED MENU IS VERY GOOD FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. BEST MASHED POTATOES I'VE EVER HAD. (Date added: 8/12/97) One of the truly finest brew pubs in the country. the beer is outstanding as well as the food. (Date added: 5/5/97) Tim Rastetter has been brewer at Brewhouse at Party Source, Covington, KY, for some time now. Randy Mellon is now the brewer at Liberty with Chad Bordner as asst. brewer. (Date added: 5/4/97) - Roger This is one of the top 5 brewpubs in Ohio. Good beer, good food, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly folks. (Date added: 4/25/97) |
