Comments

I had the opportunity to sample the Pale Ale, Gold Top, and Maibock. All were well done beer, the Maibock was even served in a brandy snifter to enhance the aroma. The pale ale was my favorite, it had a great hoppy finish. Only drawback was that on Friday and Saturday nights there is a $4 cover charge, due to the band. I did not go there for the band I went for the beer! Just a small drawback to an otherwise enjoyable visit. (Date added: 6/18/98)

I have been taste testing Microbrews for some time now and find the Rev. Purley Pale Ale to be one of the best I've had. I have attended the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in Denver, CO and find Hoster's Pale Ale stands up to the best of the best. Great taste. (Date added: 3/21/98)

The Gold Top is an awsome beer, as is the winter Doublebock and SOB. The Octoberfest is one of the best around. Tha Amber is good, and found at many bars and eating establishments. Just sampled the excellent Kolsh and Porter. The marginal Pale Ale (Hey, leave the ales to Barleys!) drops the rating to a 4. Actually, I like the set up better than Great Lakes, as it's kind of hard to get around. CHosters could use a patio though. (Date added: 12/30/97)

Built "in a trolley barn". Food and beer are the best in Columbus by a wide margin. I rate this as one of the top 4 brewpubs in the state, probably #2 behind Great Lakes, Cleveland.
