RiverRock has a unique atmosphere and a nice view of the Arkansas River, Riverfest Amphitheater and the (under-construction) Alltel Arena. Now, that that is out of the way, let me tell you about the Beer: Pretty good for a place that has just opened and is the just second brewery in Little Rock. The beer is improving with every batch and it is the only brewery in the Little Rock area that brews lagers (to date). I prefer the food at Vino's, the other brewpub in Downtown LR. Overall, I enjoy hanging out at the bar and sampling their beers until I find one that I like. Great onion rings, too! There's no particular beer that sticks out in my memory from my last visit a few months ago (February '98) Worth a visit, on Day Two of your trip to LR. On Day One in LR go for proven quality and the best Pizza and Calzones around at Vino's. Nevertheless River Rock is a class act and has a bright future. (Date added: 5/24/98) I wish you had a 2.5 rating. That is what I would like to give this brewery. I have only visited once but found it to be a pleasant experience. I thought the Brown Ale and the Hefe were the two best beers that the brewery offered. The seven beer sampler came with no information about what ingredients had been used to make these brews. The "Hefe" was the high spot to this drinker, very aromatic with a nice banana-coriander touch, should be a good summertime quencher. The "IPA" was noticably hoppy with over powering. The Birddog Brown Ale was also very good. None of the other brews stood out with a flavor difference, I didn't think the Flatbed Stout had near enough flavor tho I do like the stronger Porters and Stouts. The service was quite good for our party of 14, the one single waiter was there when we needed him. The problem with our trip was the food, as a restuarant this place may have had bad night or maybe our group was too much a the time but out food was cold on some plates, not completely cooked on others, and over all was not very tasty for most of our party. I will continue to support the small Breweries of the areas that I'm in. Driving to Little Rock from Waco Texas to visit wit! h family I'll try another brewery next time. (Date added: 1/1/98) |
